A lawsuit in Yvette Baker v. Martin Leigh PC, Case No. 1816-CV32043, claims that
defendant Martin Leigh PC attempted to collect on an alleged debt on behalf of a debt purchaser
and violated the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act. The suit claims that Martin Leigh, PC
violated Missouri’s Merchandising Practices Act by deceiving, concealing, suppressing, or omitting from
Missouri citizens material facts related to the debt purchaser’s absence of a legal right to enforce the
alleged debt and charging excessive fees along the way from 2014 to the present. Defendant Martin
Leigh PC denies all allegations and have asserted many defenses. The settlement is not an
admission of wrongdoing or an indication that any law was violated.
The settlement will result in a payment of $750,000.00 to be divided up as the court may
direct.
In the event the court approves of this settlement, the court will also determine class
counsel’s fees and expenses to date, and the amount of excess funds available for class
distribution.
